A cable gland, is usually a plastic ring (sometimes brass or steel if dealing with MIMS or Armoured cables), that is fitted onto a cable as it enters into a switchboard or cabinet.
It forms a tight seal around the penetration that protects the cable from damage on sharp edged holes. It also has the capability of preventing moisture and dust ingress on IP rated enclosures.
Cable termination is the process of connecting power cables up to the final equipment or the upstream circuit breaker.
