How to Make an Electric Fence
Fences have been used for centuries in one form or another to detain, restrict or separate animals. The animals eventually overran many of these fences. With the advent of electricity, deterring animals from escaping became much easier by applying a non-lethal, yet substantial charge of electricity to the wire fencing. Here's how to do it.
Instructions
- 1Calculate the area of land to be fenced off. Walking off the perimeter of the lot or piece of property is one way of getting a general idea of the size. Walking the perimeter with a handheld GPS unit gives a more accurate reading.
- 2Construct the fence by placing posts approximately 10 feet apart and strung together with barbed wire or common fencing wire. Purchase this material at hardware or home improvement stores, such as Lowe's or Home Depot.
- 3Purchase the electrical distribution unit, found at farmer's co-op retailers and some hardware stores. This unit should contain a distribution unit, insulators and grounding materials.
- 4Apply the insulators to the fencing according to the manufacturer's instructions. Follow proper wire height and insulator spacing for best results. Insert the grounding rod into the earth and connect the fence wiring.
- 5Connect the wiring to the electric distribution box and apply power to the unit. Test the power output with a voltmeter.FOR YOUR PHILIPPINE ELECTRICAL CONCERNS...NEEDS...INSTALLATION...QUOTATION...ORDERSKINDLY EMAIL US: SAFEELECTRICAL2013@GMAIL.COMFOR YOUR PHILIPPINE ELECTRICAL CONCERNS...NEEDS...INSTALLATION...QUOTATION...ORDERS:KINDLY EMAIL US: SAFEELECTRICAL2013@GMAIL.COM
