Hello, I'm buying a Roland Cube amp that has many effects available in one channel and another clean channel. am also looking at buying a footswitch mainly for distortion but I'm wondering how it will work.
Regarding the voodooman series of switches, one switch is called select, the other EFX. Just wondering if I can just go from clean to distortion and back or do I have to cycle through all the other effects before getting back to distortion. Any help appreciated.

ive got a cube and a boss footswitch, the select pedal allows you to go from clean to whatever effect you have on the distortion channel, whether it be metal stack or acoustic or whatever, and straight back. (you dont have to cycle through all of the settings)
the EFX pedal just turns off/on whatever effect you are on

So if I'm on the clean channel with the effect knob on the amp on Metal then when clicking select it will goto metal?
Assuming above, If I hit select it will goto the other channel where Metal will kick in. Fair enough. But what will happen if I then click EFX?
Don't want to knock you but going by your advice, I'd go back to clean - which seems to be the same as select. Is this correct?

No, you're understanding him wrong. What he means with "effects" here are delay, reverb, phaser, chorus and such. One button changes the channel (so switches between clean and metal, for example), while the other button toggles delay on and off, for example.

No, you're understanding him wrong. What he means with "effects" here are delay, reverb, phaser, chorus and such. One button changes the channel (so switches between clean and metal, for example), while the other button toggles delay on and off, for example.

Is it the clear channel has two settings, one clear and one gain - and that one is controlled by the select switch.
And the other is an effects channel, essentially a toggle between effect on and off.

your amp has two "channels" the first being the "clean" channel and the second being the "lead" channel
the lead channel has many different settings to dramatically change the tone accessed by the rotary switch. this is not the effects this is simply a channel with multiple settings.
the channel select footswitch will toggle or alternate between these two channels ie if you are on the clean channel, pressing the footswitch will change you to the lead channel. if you are on the lead channel then pressing the footswitch will take you to the clean channel.
you cannot use a footswitch to cycle between the settings on the lead channel you can only have one setting on the lead channel + the clean channel accesible by footswitch.
the "effects" are completely independent of the channels. the effects are controlled by the two knobs on the top right hand side of the control panel and are labelled efx and delay/reverb. once you have set the knobs to where you like the sound you can use the EFX footswitch to simply turn the effect on and off. ie. if the effect is on and you press the footswitch the effect will turn off. if the effect is off the footswitch will turn it on.
now if that doesnt help you i dont know what will! lol :cheers:
